CALL 911 FOR A BURN IF IT
Involves the face, hands, feet, genitals, or a major joint. Is larger than the child’s palm. Is charred, white, or leathery in appearance (full-thickness). Was caused by electricity, chemicals, or fire/smoke inhalation. Affects an infant, or a child in significant pain.
SYMPTOMS THAT REQUIRE IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION OR 911
Loss of consciousness of any duration. Repeated vomiting (more than once or twice). Seizure. Visible deformity of the skull or persistent severe headache. Clear fluid or blood from the nose or ears. Inability to wake the child normally, or extreme drowsiness. Difficulty walking or maintaining balance. Unequal pupils. Confusion, slurred speech, or behavior that is not right for the child.
